Trish Harris
Trish Harris has written three books. Her latest, Out of the Box, is aimed at young people 12+. It contains 25 short, illustrated stories about Deaf and disabled artists, activists and adventurers from Aotearoa. It also contains a detailed timeline of significant Deaf and disability events 1840-2026.
Her memoir, The Walking Stick Tree, was published in 2016 and her poetry collection, My wide white bed, in 2017.
In 2016 she co-founded Crip the Lit, a group of collaborators who celebrate and advocate for disabled people telling their stories, their way.
She’s worked as a tutor and editor and to make herself sound more interesting sometimes claims to be a part-time crane operator.
