Kiki Van Newtown is a musician, writer, parent and activist living in Te Awakairangi. She has spent the last five years playing shows around Aotearoa, Australia and the US, and in May 2020 released the LP and collection of short stories titled 'Big Woman' as Giantess, which was described by Nick Bollinger as "sonically big, conceptually big, but also big as in grown-up. This is mature songwriting, which doesn’t mean mellow or sedate. Big Woman rocks and rages majestically". Kiki's published writing is based largely around justice and health advocacy, and she is particularly interested in how to effectively use communication for radical social change.
