Award-winning author Brannavan Gnanalingam returns with his ninth novel, U.X.O., an intergenerational exploration of memory and the lingering consequences of war.
When a former Indian peacekeeper recounts his experiences in the Sri Lankan Civil War to his grandson, difficult questions of responsibility and complicity emerge. Through a series of revised and redrafted letters, the realities of war slowly come into view. Drawing on histories connected to his Sri Lankan heritage, Gnanalingam discusses how fiction can open up conversations that history alone cannot resolve.
In conversation with Spoor Books publisher, Balamohan Shingade.
