Rebecca Hawkes is from a high-country farm near Methven and now roams the office towers of Pōneke. Rebecca’s first chapbook ‘Softcore coldsores’ launched in 2019 in AUP New Poets 5 for the series' revival, sharing a spine with collections from Carolyn DeCarlo and Sophie Van Waardenberg.

She writes poems about flesh industries, human beastliness, and joyous weeds. Rebecca is a founding member of the Show Ponies performance troupe and co-edits the poetry journal Sweet Mammalian. Her work has appeared across journals like Starling, Scum, Stasis, Sport, and Best New Zealand Poems. You can also find Rebecca's poems and paintings collected at her vanity shrine
