“Chidgey’s grasp of the slipperiness and self-delusion of memory – from Justine as an increasingly unreliable narrator, to her father’s later dementia – is faultless.” ⸺ The Guardian

Catherine Chidgey is one of New Zealand’s most productive and successful writers with novel after novel roaring up the bestseller lists and providing rich experiences for readers and critics both near and far. We’re delighted to bring Chidgey back to Verb to delve into the depths of her latest fascinating and gripping novel, Pet, which follows adult Justine as she reaches for the impact of her childhood experiences with the sinister Mrs Price, a teacher at a claustrophobic Catholic primary school in 1980s New Zealand. Hosted by Kiran Dass.

A discounted ‘Ticket + book’ bundle is available for this event for a copy of Catherine Chidgey's Pet. If purchased, your book can be collected from Unity Books, 57 Willis Street, Wellington in advance of the festival, or at the event from Unity's book table.

Catherine Chidgey will also be hosting a workshop: Masterclass with Catherine Chidgey: Unusual Narrators.
