CANCELLATION NOTICE: We are very sad to announce that this lovely family programme has to be cancelled due to COVID 19. We are unable to deliver this under Level 2 conditions. We look forward to future family programmes when conditions allow.

Come one and come all to revel in a healthy dose of witchy craft! We celebrate the magic of stories, community and craft with activities, readings, meet-the-author events, spell concocting, zine making, story times, and a special Bad Jelly The Witch performance. Dressing up as your favourite magical character is encouraged and will incur prizes.

The full timetable of events and activities will be here very soon.
Please note this programme is only going ahead in Level 1.

BAD JELLY!
Sunday 7 November, 11am & 12pm
National Library of New Zealand, Programmes Room
FREE (but will only go ahead in Level 1)

Join silly sausages and ukulele playing friends Gemma Gracewood (writer) and Megan Salole (illustrator) as they take you on a romp into the heart of Spike Milligan’s Badjelly the Witch, to show you how you, too, could turn your made-up family bedtime stories into a classic for the ages. Remember: little and good can win against big and bad, especially with friends helping. Also: nonsense never goes out of style. And: always lend money to eagles.

The Magical Matters Family programme will star the following writers & activities:

Steph Matuku (Whetū Toa and the Hunt for Ramses)
Graci Kim (The Last Falling Star)
Stories with Kyle Mewburn
Cuppa tea with Shilo Kino (The Pōrangi Boy) & Ataria Sharman  (Hine and The Tohunga Portal) who talk to you and together about writing books for younger readers
Witchy story time
Broomstick design & Spell concocting
Live Drawing
Magical Creature portraits
Witchy zine-making for families

This programme is proudly supported by ReadNZ
