Lil O’Brien with Emily Writes at Verb Writers Festival 2020

Lil O’Brien’s memoir begins when she accidentally ‘outs’ herself to her parents while home from university for the holidays. The news doesn't go down well. Telling the story of her coming out journey with a refreshing frankness, Lil takes a deep dive into late '90s-early noughties lesbian culture, gets herself into booze-fuelled situations that will be relatable to many ex-scarfies, explores her own prejudices and learns to embrace her identity as a queer woman. Emily Writes talked with Lil O’Brien about Not That I’d Kiss a Girl at Verb Writers Festival 2020.
